Center for Economic Policy Research - 2020

This survey was conducted by researchers at the London School of Economics in India to analyze the support for the job guarantee in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It specifically surveyed a random sample of 5,500 individuals from low-income urban wards in India who do not have access to the MGNREGA program between May 14th and July 8th 2020. It found that the pandemic had increased demand for a job guarantee and that the majority of respondents wanted a job guarantee regardless of their age, sex, education level, or formality of their work.

This poll published in “A Robot Took my Job” as was conducted by YouGov in 2019 between October 3rd and 7th. The representative survey collected responses from 1,075 adults in Australia about a range of questions relating to advances in technology and policy responses to protect employment from those changes. The majority of respondents thought the job guarantee was a good idea and preferred a job guarantee compared to a universal basic income.

Center for European Progressive Studies - 2023

This survey with 445 respondents tested Europeans’ perceptions of the job guarantee program. It found that there was majority support among its respondents in Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy. The survey also asked for opinions about the type of jobs respondents would want to see most out of a job guarantee and found strongest support for green and care jobs.
