European Trade Union Conference on the Job Guarantee

On October 7, European Trade Union Institute and European Trade Union Confederation met for a conference on the role of a Job Guarantee in upholding principles of sustainability, fair labor standards, and democracy. Presentations from Rania Antonopoulos, Lukas Lehner, and others discussed research and real world Job Guarantee pilot programs.

From the conference page:

“This joint ETUI-ETUC conference, symbolically taking place at the European Labour Authority (ELA) on the World Day for Decent Work, will discuss the proposed European Job Guarantee. This pivotal initiative aims to tackle unemployment and foster social progress by creating high-quality, sustainable jobs across diverse sectors, and involving both public and private employers, with a strong emphasis on upholding fair labour practices and social responsibility. The event will also delve into valuable lessons learned from previous employment programs in various EU Member States, offering crucial perspectives to inform the design and implementation of the European Job Guarantee. It will explore the indispensable role of social partners, particularly trade unions, in ensuring the program’s effectiveness and positive impact on workers’ rights and well-being.”
